international women's day 2023

Celebrated annually on March 8th, International Women's Day is a day to recognise and celebrate the achievements and activism of women while acknowledging the challenges face - particularly that of gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

As a female-founded and self-made business, Alana Ellis, aged 25, has an inspiring story of success that deserves celebration. So this IWD we wanted to applaud our achievements as a business and say thanks to the women who are the working force behind AMJ.

A note from Alana:

“This International Women's Day, I turn to look at my team. A team of intelligent, talented and inspired young women whose dedication and hard work is the driving force behind the success of Alana Maria Jewellery.

I’m continually motivated by their ideas, passion and expertise and I’m proud to stand side-by-side with such an amazing group of women.

As future leaders and change-makers, I celebrate the triumphs and activism of generations of women before us and empower current generations to continue forging a more equal world.”

In honour of International Women's Day and through our partnership with i=Change, Alana Maria Jewellery will be donating $1 from every purchase to 3 life-changing charities that support women, inclusion and the environment. In particular our partnership with “Her Future” that supports the education of girls in Calcutta. By providing education and academic tutoring, Her Future Coalition ensures that girls have the chance of breaking the cycle of poverty and exploitation by getting a quality education.

To promote the message behind IWD we hosted an intimate dinner event where our leadership team spoke about the importance of collective activism and using our own circle's influence, to challenge stereotypes and to call out discrimination, bias, and exclusion.
