Muse of the Month: Sangeeta Kocharekar

This month we’re featuring Sangeeta Kocharekar, a freelance writer and content creator based in North Bondi. With a background in editorial and a sharp eye for personal style, Sangeeta approaches fashion with intention, wearing and rewearing pieces in a way that feels considered and real.

What’s your favourite Alana Maria piece and why?
The Box Chain Necklace. A sales associate at the Bondi Junction store was wearing it and I loved it straight away. I wear it almost every day, it goes with nearly every outfit. I like that I can wear it on its own or layered with other necklaces.

What’s a piece of jewellery you can’t live without?
Rings. I have three, including my grandparents’ wedding ring, that I almost never take off. I’ll add extra rings to the mix every now and again.

What are your everyday jewellery staples?
My Box Chain Necklace is definitely a staple. I also have three permanent bracelets now and one permanent anklet. I like a bold earring if my outfit is simple, and a simpler earring if I’m wearing something bold.

Can you share a special memory tied to a piece of jewellery?
I have my grandparents’ wedding ring that I wear on my right hand and never take off. There are a few of us grandchildren, so I feel fortunate that I was given it. My grandparents’ marriage didn’t last too long though, so I’m not sure what wearing it means for me.

Who or what inspires your everyday style?
Content on my Instagram Explore page is a main source of inspiration. I try to analyse what it is about an outfit that makes it work so well. What’s helped my everyday style most is documenting it. I can look back at old outfits and see what I liked or didn’t like.

How has your personal style evolved over the years?
Since I started regularly documenting my outfits, I’ve become so much more confident in my personal style. I’ve always been a good shopper and could find great pieces, but I struggled with styling them. I had a wardrobe full of clothes I loved but didn’t know how to put them together.

What’s a good piece of advice you’ve received recently?
I’ve seen a lot of creators say that people aren’t growing on TikTok because they’re afraid of being seen. I found that really interesting.
